Behind the Scenes: Transformation Interactive Workshop (FREE event)

Join CMU College of Makeup Art & Design at the Durham International Film Festival (DRIFF) for a FREE "Behind the Scenes" transformation interactive makeup, costume and acting workshop at the Biltmore Theatre!

Take a trip back in time with the CMU College of Makeup Art and Design, Pickering Vintage Props and Theatre on the Ridge as attendees experience a period-inspired transformation complete with makeovers, costuming and a themed staging area for exciting and unique photo ops.

CMU sets the international standard for advanced makeup artistry education. Having trained over 5,000 artists for careers in film & television, fashion, theatre, and special effects their award-winning instructors teach in state-of-the-art facilities, including a special makeup effects lab and photography studio. CMU is the only school offering courses in all eight disciplines of makeup artistry, from fashion and hairstyling to prosthetics and digital design.

First visit the Makeup Station where guests will receive a vintage or period makeup look (1950s glam or Victorian elegance) by a CMU-trained makeup artist. Due to the complexity of these looks, each application will take a minimum of 30 minutes, and advance sign-up is required.

Then move to the Wardrobe Station where Pickering Vintage Props will provide a Victorian and a 1950s themed staging area with decor, props, and several costumes on display as a setting for photo opportunities with your own device or our photographers.

 At the Acting Station Theatre on the Ridge will provide costume pieces and accessories so you can experience firsthand the deportment and social skills required to navigate society in the Victorian/Edwardian years and in the 1950’s.
